The Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Wa Visits McCoy College of Education, Confirms the Faithful, and Donates Computers
McCoy College of Education was honoured to welcome the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Wa, Most Rev. Francis Bomansaan, M.Afr., on Sunday, 2 August 2026, for a significant pastoral visit that brought together faith formation, community engagement, and educational development.
The Bishop's visit formed part of his ongoing pastoral outreach to the college community and was marked by three key activities: an interaction with students and staff, the presentation of computers donated by the Missionaries of Africa, and the administration of the Sacrament of Confirmation during the celebration of Holy Mass.
The visit began with a warm reception by the College Management, staff, and students, who expressed their appreciation for the Bishop's continuous spiritual guidance and support. During his interaction with members of the college community, Most Rev. Bomansaan encouraged students to strive for academic excellence while remaining grounded in Christian values such as integrity, discipline, humility, and service. He emphasized that education should not only impart knowledge and skills but also shape individuals into responsible leaders capable of making meaningful contributions to society.
A central aspect of the pastoral visit was the celebration of the Holy Eucharist, during which the Bishop administered the Sacrament of Confirmation to well-prepared candidates from the college community. In his homily, he urged the newly confirmed faithful to remain steadfast in their commitment to Christ and to allow the gifts of the Holy Spirit to guide their personal lives, academic pursuits, and future vocations, particularly in the teaching profession.
A major highlight of the occasion was also the donation of 30 desktop computers by the Missionaries of Africa to support teaching and learning at McCoy College of Education. The donation is expected to enhance Information and Communication Technology (ICT) education and improve students' access to modern computing resources.
Receiving the computers on behalf of the College, the Principal, Rev. Fr. Peter Paul Yelletuo, expressed profound gratitude to the Missionaries of Africa for their generosity and commitment to advancing education. He noted that the donation comes at a time when digital literacy has become an indispensable component of teacher education and assured the donors that the equipment would be effectively utilized for the benefit of students and staff.
The visit of Most Rev. Francis Bomansaan further strengthened the longstanding partnership between the Catholic Diocese of Wa, the Missionaries of Africa, and McCoy College of Education.
