Foundation & Establishment

McCoy College of Education, located in Nadowli in the Upper West Region of Ghana, stands as a prominent Catholic mission school with a deep commitment to training teachers for the nation's basic schools. The college was established in 2014, guided by the inspiring motto "Lumen Gentium" Light of the Nations reflecting its mission to be a shining beacon in shaping the future of education in Ghana.

The establishment of McCoy College was born out of a social audit conducted by the Catholic Diocese of Wa in 2011, which was aimed at assessing the physical and financial gaps between needs and resources available for local development in the area of education. This audit revealed a critical shortage of qualified teachers and adequate training facilities in the Upper West Region, prompting the Catholic Diocese to establish the college as a direct response to this pressing need.
