McCoy College of Education Announces Vacancy for College Principal

The Governing Council of McCoy College of Education, Nadowli, in the Upper West Region, invites applications from suitably qualified persons for the position of College Principal.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  1. Provide strategic leadership and direction for the College.
  2. Oversee academic, administrative, and financial operations.
  3. Contribute to the development and implementation of quality teaching and learning programmes.
  4. Foster strong relationships with stakeholders, including faculty, students, and the community.
  5. Exhibit a high sense of industry leadership qualities and remain approachable.
  6. Attract grants and funds for Research and Development activities for the College.
  7. Uphold the College's reputation and standards of excellence in education.
  8. Be able to control crisis situations and give sound and impartial judgement.
  9. Have proven ability to lead a team and manage resources effectively.
  10. Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  11. Have in-depth knowledge of the educational landscape and the vision of Ghana's educational goals.

Terms of Appointment

  1. Must not be more than 55 years at the time of application.
  2. Salary and conditions of service are attractive and comparable to similar positions in Ghana.
  3. The appointment shall be for an initial period of four (4) years and may be renewed for another term only.


Qualification and Experience

The candidate must:

  1. Be a distinguished scholar and a master teacher.
  2. Have a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) or equivalent qualification in the relevant area of specialization.
  3. Be of a rank not below Associate Professor in a College of Education or in a university or any analogous institution.
  4. Have at least 10 years of progressive experience in teaching and/or research, including at least 5 years in a senior management or leadership role.
  5. Have proven leadership skills and be a team player.
  6. Have the ability to provide confidence as well as direct and motivate staff.
  7. Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capacity to manage and control crisis situations.
